"I fed the beautiful rosellas" Tom 27/9/2009
The tranquil bush surrounds of Red Earth Lodge are bursting with things for kids to do:
We have a couple of swings, plenty of wombat holes to find (and some wombats by torchlight at night), collect fruit and herbs (the land used to have a veggie patch), a tree house to get up to, boules, floor size Jenga and plenty of space to run, squeal and play.
If it all gets too much there is always the DVD collection.
Swim in the Creek
The creek is about a 5 min walk from the front door of the lodge. Howitt Park in Bright has just renovated its water park, which is right beside a MASSIVE playground (situated at the back of Bright Brewery Or The Ginger Baker where you can watch whilst supping and eating)
When I got here I screemed of xitement. I had the biggest cumfiest bed ever, a couple of hours later we went on a night walk all we saw was a leaf but we then found out we need to go later. Next morning I got up from the best sleep ever, I had a nice hot showr and i was tosty and warm I fed the butifal rozeles. That night we went on a night walk again. I saw about 5 wallabies and a wambat. I had the best time ever. IT WAS FANTASTIC” Tom
Sitting under the stars with the family eating dinner is one of my favourite things to do up in Bright. Staring at all the different shapes, patterns and sizes of the stars and we love making up their names.
Play in the Snow
Tobogganing up at Mt Buffalo, or skiing and snowboarding at Mt Hotham or Fallscreek which are within an hour's drive.
There are plenty of places for your kids to cycle safely. There's a rail trail from Bright to Wangaratta with lots of little villages enroute (and wineries). Our property is mainly grass so not so easy to ride a bike around, but Eurobin Creek Track goes for around 3 km past our entrance which is good fun for little kids.
Trout & Salmon
Near Harrietville there is a lovely trout and salmon farm. It's a great place to spend the afternoon with kids and if you love fish, you'll love eating your catch from here. The trout and salmon are sublime (the staff even clean them out for you, ready to cook when you get back to the lodge).
Visit the Mt Buffalo Chalet, take in the views from the platforms, or play hide and seek!
